EEK! Just a HeadsUp!
Was reading a local Michigan conservation rag where the present director of the state DNR was talking about the bad olde days when as a game biologist she went on the state-wide deer pellet counts in the spring to get a handle on deer numbers. Counts that involved long walks on hundreds of established grids across the state counting piles of deer scat.
Now she says they rely on speices specific satellite infra-red imageing TO COUNT EVERY DEER IN THE STATE. Does knowing that that level of technology exists and is being used alter your survival plans? |

That technology does not exist. they had a prototype once, mounted on a black helicopter, but it crashed near roswell NM and the inventor of the device died in the fire.
But remember, just because I am paranoid does not mean they're NOT out to get you. |

searching the Michigan wilderness looking for every single individual deer UNLESS, they were deemed " domestic deerorists " :bear_angry: if a satellite can tell the difference between a deer TI and a moose TI i'll start packing for the FEMA camp right now she must be thinking about individual radio tags/collars |
Re: EEK! Just a HeadsUp!
Well, the days of hiding a cabin in the woods are gone, and have been for some time. An unheated shack or cave are still options. but the best option is to hide in plain sight, and to not stick out.

Resolution is good enough to tell the brand of pen in your pocket protector. Has been for 20 years now.
As for recognizing and counting deer, that's a heck of a lot easier than your average OCR pass. It's not perfect, but not labor intensive at all. |
